A fellow tiquee would like some help…

IN OTHER NEWS:

A fellow tiquee asked Snoop for help on a manuscript title based on a query letter synopsis. As Tamarak and Snoop’s agent know, Snoop really really stinks at titling. So without further ado, can anyone help this writer with a title?

Melanie Ratsnester never, in a million years, imagined she would be teased about anything other than her name. But then her single mom since forever decides to completely ruin her life by marrying a Mortician. No matter how much she desperately pleads, Melanie is pulled from her comfortable life in the big city and is forced to adjust to small town life, population 2,001. A town where the dead outnumber the living.

It isn’t long before Melanie is suddenly labeled as the outsider, the butt of jokes, the hot topic of gossip. Of course it doesn’t help when the cemetery is her backyard, the mortuary is only feet away, and she’s picked up from school in a hearse. People say she sleeps in a coffin, they call her family the “Addam’s Family” and somehow she never becomes old news. The gossip becomes more creative, though not entirely untrue. Melanie discovers humor can overcome any situation and learns that sometimes…the dead are more pleasant than the living.

BASED ON THIS INFO, WHAT TITLE FOR THIS STORY POPS INTO YOUR HEAD THAT WOULD CATCH YOUR EYE SAY, IF YOU’RE IN A BOOKSTORE?

Thanks for your help!

SNOOP SAYS:
I’m not that bad at titling. I think this one should be called, “Hearses, Corpses, and Inflatable Dolls.” What’s so bad about that?

  1. Growing up in small town in south Texas, small towns always make me think of Dairy Queens, so my suggestion is “A Dairy Queen and Dead People”

  2. Here’s a dozen or so …

    Ratsnester’s Cemetery

    My Goofy Life With Death

    My Friends, the Dead

    The Friendly Dead

    Death’s Laughing Stepdaughter

So What’s Wrong With The Dead, Anyway?

Why My School Bus Is A Hearse,
    or,
    I Really Could Walk, Mom

    At Least Corpses Don’t Gossip

    Graveyard Gossip

    Graveyard Giggles

    Mom’s Mortician and Me

    Mom, the Mortician, and Me

    Stand-up Death

A Boy, A Girl And A Kangaroo Walk Into a Mortuary

    Comedy and Corpses

  3. Hahhahaa! My favorite – just for kicks – title is the one involving a marsupial. Too funny.

Anyhow, Janet, thanks for your contributions. I believe the fellow tiquee was able to use one of your suggestions with a slight twist on it. Good work!
