Hi. I find this post years later, as I love te the natural world and once as a thirteen-year-old, wrote myself a short novel for kids with talking animals and their adventure with deforestation happening around them. I fnished it but nobody ever read it. Part of me as an adult twenty years later wants to write a better version of that today with a jaguar cub as the protagonist but I’m afraid it’ll be another sappy sentamnetal environmental-based story everyone might hate. I th ought about throwin aliens into the mix but I don’t know if I like that idea yet. IT keeps coming back to me so I wondered if there’s roo mleft for such an idea or shelve it back in my childhood’s memory? Anyway, art is like that. thanks for the post and your bravery. I never was published yet but I hope to be soon.
There’s no such thing as a bad idea, but do your research as suggested. There are all kinds of premises out there that no one would think would sell! What matters more is your craft (the writing, the execution!, not necessarily the idea) unless there are already popular books our there that are currently selling well with the same exact premise. Good luck! – Cynthea
