Patrons

I wanted to send out a special thank you to writers, authors, agents, and editors for supporting my website. These folks have shown their love by getting the word out by linking to the website and/or recommending it to others. The best way to spread the news is through word of mouth. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and Snoop, from the bottom of his furry paws. If YOU are a fan, contact me and tell me your thoughts!

Harold Underdown, author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Publishing Children’s Books, Second Edition and a children’s book editor, recently featured my “Anatomy of a Synopsis” article on his fabulous website The Purple Crayon, an amazing place to find a load of free information for writers. Harold is renown for his long career in editing and his active involvement in the writing community.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrator’s Southwest Texas chapter (SCBWI SWTX) featured my website in their newsletter. The SCBWI SWTX blog is always up-to-date with upcoming events in the area and terrific links to online resources for writers.

Jennifer Rofe (pronounced Roh-Fay), my agent, with the Andrea Brown Literary Agency is an avid supporter and has as much enthusiasm for this website as she has for my books (Thankfully!). She frequently recommends the website to aspiring writers during her workshops. If you are ever so lucky to meet her, tell her I said “Hi!”

Madeline Smoot, editor for Blooming Tree Press, also featured my blog on her own wonderful and extremely popular blog, Buried in the Slush Pile. Ms. Smoot left a comment on one of my revision articles, stating, “Thank you so much for reiterating the things we’ve all been trying to tell writers all along…” Aw. I am so flattered!

Anastasia Suen, author of a hundred children’s books, has a fabulous blog called Create/Relate. For the latest in children’s book market news, bookmark her site. Anastasia also holds terrific classes for writers, one of which was an easy reader class I thought was wonderful!

Esther Hershenhorn, author of Chicken Soup by Heart, winner of the Sydney Taylor Book Award, SCBWI-Illinois Regional Advisor (and fairy godmother), frequently recommends this site to chapter members and her writing students. Esther is a world-class writing coach. See her website for more information.

Tammi Sauer never fails to mention this site to aspiring writers as the first place to look for a “gold mine” of free information on writing for children. Tammi is a big force in the contemporary picture book market with a zillion PBs coming out with Dutton, S&S and Sterling.

Carmela Martino is such a lovely author, and I was so pleased that my website became the link of the month on her own website. Carmela’s book Rosa, Sola brought me to tears and was nominated for many awards including, Booklist’s “Top Ten First Novels for Youth: 2006!”

Andrea Beaty, author of Iggy Peck, Architect and a million other picture books that are coming to a bookstore near you, also recommends my website to fellow writers. Ms. Beaty is also one of the notable bloggers of the popular blog Three Silly Chicks. Check them out!

Margot Finke is a huge advocate of children’s writers, offering sage advice on her website and blog. She’s a regular columnist for Harold Underdown’s Purple Crayon website and offers manuscript critique services as well. She is one busy gal!

The Disco Mermaids are a group of three savvy and hilarious writers featuring Robin, Eve, and Jay Asher. Jay’s stunning book Thirteen Reasons Why has received a jillion accolades. I personally LOVED this book. If you’re interested in literary fiction for teens, this is a must-read!

Leah Cypess, Brian Humek, Brandie Lee, Mindy Weiss, Susan Bradley, Barb Huff, J.L. Powers, Dorothy Crane, Tara Lazar, Kristine Carlson Asselin, HipWriterMama, Barbara Etlin, Natisha LaPierre, Kym Brunner and many other authors and writers have all linked to my website. Read their blogs to see what dedicated writers in the field are doing today!
