RLGL Round 5 is OPEN until Thursday, 4/21/16 CST, New entrants may enter anytime

Hello, everyone! We swear we’re not trying to torture all of you lovely folks waiting for your RLGL Round 4 feedback, but between Cynthea’s recent 2016 Oklahoma Book Award win for Bike On, Bear!, her radio appearance this last Monday,an upcoming school visit, and training some new interns on how to give proper belly rubs, Kissy has been extremely busy. Now that things have calmed down a little, Kissy will be digging through your submissions over the next few days. Thank you for your utmost patience. For those of you who have not received your round 4 feedback yet: do NOT submit your manuscript to round 5 until you know Kissy’s verdict. He’ll make sure you get your feedback before round 5 closes!

Round 5 for this year’s Red Light, Green Light contest is OPEN for submissions! New entrants may enter at any time so long as the round is open. It’s going to be a slow round so I’m thanking you in advanced for your patience. Woof!!

To expedite our review process, and given the volume of entries we are receiving, we are reinstating feedback codes to deliver your results. There’s no time to be able to tailor our responses as much as we’d like. But this should still give you a good idea.  Check out this page for common reasons why your manuscript may be sent back to start.  If you receive a code, you can look it up on this page to find out what went wrong. Thanks for understanding!*

This does not mean that we are done returning ALL results from the previous round. It just means this round is open for new entrants and any existing entrants who have received their results from the previous round.

When we have returned all results, that will be noted in this post. So please don’t ask about your submission until it is clear that all results have been returned. Thank you!

Finally, to help us keep better track of your submission, please submit your work to the right category. Picture books and ER have their own bucket so we can keep track of the # of entrants vying for that prize. Longer works go in the other category so we can do the same for those folks too.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, look at our Rules and Regulations.

Once you’ve got that all figured out, click that submit button at the bottom of this post.

This round will be closing submissions on Thursday, 04/21/16 @ 11:59 CST.

New entrants can enter anytime though, even if you miss a Round.

Anything can happen in this game, so get in when a round is open. Please help us make this even more fun by letting others know what’s going on and inviting them to join in on the competition! #RLGL is the official tag.

Good luck, everyone! WOOF!

    1. Post has been updated with bummer news for now. We will make it up to you all! Please accept our deepest apologies.

  1. Nancy and Deborah: Right now at least, if you click on the Submit button in the Round 4 post, it takes you to the Submittable page for Round 5.

    1. No I’m still waiting. What do we do if we haven’t gotten a response for round 4 since the deadline for round 5 U.S. Tonight at 12?

  2. Mine says “In Progress.” Deadline approaching. I thought maybe this post was another pre-loaded post and that maybe it wasn’t accurate, but it’s been up a few days.

  3. Yes. I expected it to be slow, but the deadline posted is the factor that leaves me wondering. I figured because there wasn’t a submit button that maybe this was not an accurate update. Mine was “in progress” during Round 4 too. I’m going to wait to submit.

  4. Am I correct in my assumption that if we don’t hear whether our round 4 has been accepted or not, we cannot apply to round 5 and must submit for round 6 if we hear about round 4 by then? It is almost the deadline for round 5 and I have not yet heard whether Kissy has accepted my round 4 submission. Hmmmmmm.

  5. The free pass was the third round and I don’t think anyone heard back on the fourth yet even though the deadline is past. Guess we’ll hear something tomorrow.

  6. I am in the same boat, have heard nothing from 4th round. Sad I missed 5th round deadline. This has been fun, but now left wondering. Ideas?

  7. Thank you very much for letting us all know. It is really good of you (and Kissy) to give so much of your time running this exciting and instructive competition when you are so busy. And you do not charge. How kind is that??

Take your time. We look forward to hearing back from you in due course.
    Whisker-tweaks to Kissy!

  8. Take all the time you need, Cynthea and Kissy. No need for apologies. I can’t even imagine how many hours you both spent on our subs already, and I’m so grateful. We’ll be here, whenever you’re ready to return. Putting together this fun and helpful contest is all the perks we need–you don’t have to make this up to us at all.

I’m sending hugs and lots of cyber chocolate to you and cyber bacon to Kissy.

I’m not sure when the newest update went up, Holly, but don’t be sad. Round 5 is paused and looks like it won’t continue until all the round 4 entries are returned. You haven’t missed anything! I’m sure Cynthea and Kissy will post the new round 5 deadline once they’ve finished everything they have to do for themselves and have caught up with round 4.

  9. Don’t worry Kissy and Cynthea. Technical Issues and General Craziness pretty much defines most of our lives. IWe can wait.

  10. Yay Round 5 is open well done Cynthea and Kissy you did it back on track :-).
Now to just wait to see how my Round 4 entry went ;-).

  11. I submitted the first 125 words in Round 4. For Round 5 I have a question about the header. Should the header on my first page still read “Round 4”, and should I then insert a page break and a new header that reads “Round 5”? Additionally, I think I should enter a title [PAGE 2 – NEXT 250 WORDS] at the top of the page (below the header), yes? Thanks for clarifying.

    1. Hi Mary,

Yes just add a page and label the second page round 5 and the header would say page 2 next 250 words. You will be subbing two pages and keep adding pages as the rounds progress with a new heading.

  12. I’m confused. Here it says that Round 5 is still open but when I click to submit it says Round 7. Should I head my next document round 5 or round 7? Thank you in advance for your help 🙂

    1. Cat-
Sorry for any confusion! With extending some deadlines sometimes submittable gets all wonky. You should be submitting to round 5, and those links should be accurate now.

      Thanks!
